Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 8, Chinese new energy vehicle maker BYD officially put the 2025 Dolphin all-electric vehicle model onto the market. Priced between 99,800 yuan and 129,800 yuan, the 2025 Dolphin offers enhanced features and improved range without an increase in price.

The new Dolphin sees an upgrade in the power battery packs for its Knight and Vitality (“Huoli” in Chinese pinyin) versions. The Knight version now features a 60.48 kWh battery, delivering a CLTC range of 520 km. The Vitality version’s battery has been upgraded to 44.928 kWh, providing a range of 420 km. This, along with the 420 km range offered by the Free and Fashion versions, ensures that the Dolphin meets the diverse travel needs of different user groups.

Additionally, the 2025 Dolphin Knight version now boasts a maximum power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 N·m, significantly enhancing its performance.

As the first model built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0, the Dolphin features a globalized design, standards, and quality. It adopts the "Ocean Aesthetics" design philosophy, comes equipped with high-safety blade batteries, and is the world’s first vehicle to feature an eight-in-one electric powertrain. The entire range includes a heat pump system and direct cooling and heating technology for the battery pack. For intelligence, the Dolphin employs domain control technology, runs on BYD OS, and includes the DiLink intelligent networking system and DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system.

At the completion ceremony of BYD’s Thailand plant on July 4 a Dolphin car rolled off line as BYD’s 8 millionth new energy vehicle, making BYD the first automaker globally to achieve this milestone. The Dolphin is now available in several overseas markets, including Thailand, the UK, France, Germany, Norway, Brazil, Australia, and Singapore.

[SMM Daily Review: Spot Lithium Carbonate Prices Fluctuated Upward on March 13] SMM's battery-grade lithium carbonate index price fluctuated upward from the previous working day. Futures trend, the most-traded contract fluctuated higher after opening and once climbed to around 163,000 yuan/mt; after the midday session, the price reversed downward and once fell to 150,000 yuan/mt near the close, then fluctuated rangebound at low levels until the close. As of the close, open interest for the day decreased by about 8,500 lots from the previous trading day. Actual transactions, upstream lithium chemical plants showed a clear reluctance to sell and held prices firm, while willingness to sell spot orders remained weak; downstream material plants still mainly stayed cautious and on the sidelines, maintaining only just-in-time procurement. Overall, both market inquiries and actual transactions were sluggish. As for subsequent price movements, given that downstream procurement sentiment remained cautious and the market lacked sustained momentum to chase higher prices, lithium carbonate prices were expected to continue a fluctuating trend in the short term.
