Beijing (Gasgoo)- On July 7, Chinese electric vehicle maker XPENG announced the addition of 104 new charging stations to its network in June 2024, which includes 56 self-operated stations and 48 third-party free stations. These stations, offering free charging for XPENG owners, cover 29 cities including Shenzhen, Nanjing, Xi’an, and Chongqing.

On July 6, XPENG celebrated the installation of its 1,000th self-operated supercharging station in Wuhan. This station, equipped with S4 liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging technology, features 20 stalls and can serve over 1,000 XPENG owners within a 3-kilometer radius.

Currently, XPENG has 44 self-operated charging stations in Wuhan, comprising 40 supercharging stations (including S4) and 4 destination stations. Additionally, there are 4 third-party free stations. In the first half of this year, XPENG added 209 self-operated stations to its charging network and expanded its coverage to 19 new cities, increasing the coverage rate for first-tier city owners within a 3-kilometer radius to 74%.

XPENG’s S4 self-developed supercharging pile boasts a maximum power of 480kW, a maximum current of 670A, and a peak charging power of 400kW, claiming to provide 200km of range with just 5 minutes of charging and allow the battery to charge from 10% to 80% of its capacity in 15 minutes.

XPENG also revealed that its 800kW S5 liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging station is set to be launched soon. This station will support interoperability with multiple charging platforms and offer a maximum power configuration of 960kW.
