Arizona Lithium has announced the start of production drilling at its Prairie project in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Arizona Lithium has announced the start of production drilling at its Prairie project in Saskatchewan, Canada. Located in the resource-rich Williston Basin, this project uses conventional oil and gas drilling methods to extract lithium-rich brine from aquifers approximately 2.3 km underground.

Managing Director Paul Lloyd stated in a press release, “We are excited to begin our drilling program as planned. The rig is on site, and the first well has been spudded and is currently being drilled.”

The drilling program, set to last several months, will encompass three pads. The initial phase involves drilling vertical wells to evaluate the commercial potential of the Souris River and Duperow formations, followed by assessments of the Dawson Bay formation and designated disposal targets. Production and disposal testing for the first pad is scheduled to commence in June, as per the Australia-based company's announcement.

The Prairie project boasts a mineral resource of 6.3 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE), with 4.5 million tonnes indicated and 1.8 million tonnes inferred. Arizona Lithium aims to achieve commercial lithium production by 2025.

[SMM Cobalt & Lithium Morning Meeting Summary] Raw material price rebound drives material chain recovery, while tug-of-war between sellers and buyers continues.
[SMM Cobalt Lithium Morning Meeting Minutes: This week, overall sentiment in the industry chain recovered, as a rebound in upstream raw material prices drove some material prices higher. Lithium carbonate, LFP, and separator segments performed strongly. Downstream production schedules stayed high, with demand from energy storage, commercial vehicles, and power batteries still providing support. However, acceptance of high prices was limited, and actual transactions were mostly based on essential needs. Cobalt salts, nickel salts, and ternary cathode precursors remained in the doldrums, with a strong wait-and-see sentiment prevailing in the market. Overall, short-term prices may continue to drift higher, but attention still needs to be paid to raw material arrivals, the sustainability of restocking, and the realization of end-use demand going forward.]

[SMM Energy Storage Battery Cell Market Weekly Review 7.02] Prices Firm Up Recently, Year-End Capacity Hopes for a New Phase
[SMM Analysis] Energy storage battery cell prices remained stable this week due to tight short-term supply-demand conditions and transmission lags. In H2, with the concentrated rollout of new capacity and the combined effect of the year-end export rush, the market is expected to break out of the stable period and enter a new round of resonance, with both volume and prices rising.
