BTR Agreement with Moroccan Government

On March 29th, BTR and the Moroccan government signed an investment agreement in Rabat to establish a project company in Morocco for the construction of lithium battery cathode material project, meeting market demands and expanding market share overseas. Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhennouch, Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Li Changlin, and Commercial Counselor Zheng Wei from the Chinese Embassy in Morocco attended the signing ceremony and met with Bertry Chairman He Xueqin. According to the agreement, Bertry's Mediterranean project will be located in the Tangier Technology Park City in Morocco, creating a cathode material manufacturing plant to produce key materials for lithium-ion batteries in phases, with construction scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2024.

HS Hyosung Energy Solution Korea to Invest KRW 1.2 Trillion in Ulsan Silicon Anode Production Hub
HS Hyosung Energy Solution Korea announced on September 14 that it will sign an MOU to build a new silicon anode materials production plant. Under the agreement, the company will invest a total of KRW 1.2 trillion in the Ulsan-Mipo National Industrial Complex. The project will be carried out in three phases, with the goal of establishing a mass production system for silicon anode materials by 2030. In the first phase, HS Hyosung Energy Solution Korea will invest KRW 300 billion to build MPK-1, a silicon anode materials plant with annual production capacity of 5,000 mt. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2028.

On August 14, the Xiangtan Intermediate People's Court ruled to terminate the reorganization procedure of Soundon New Energy and declared it bankrupt. With this, the reorganization of Soundon New Energy, which had lasted two years and two months, was declared a failure.

The concentrated release of material should ease China's cobalt feedstock shortage and shift bargaining power toward buyers. With cobalt salt demand weak and smelter margins under pressure, additional arrivals will make it harder for sellers to hold firm, and price concessions will be needed to unlock transactions.
