Beijing (Gasgoo)- On March 30, 2024, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Dongfeng Motor) officially launched its Mach PHREV technology. The first model to feature this groundbreaking technology, the Dongfeng Aeolus L7, made its global debut.

The automakers said the Mach PHREV breaks free from the constraints of traditional hybrid systems, employing a minimalist and ingenious design that successfully integrates the power split and series-parallel hybrid technologies, combining the advantages of both while mitigating their drawbacks.

With just one planetary gearset, two sets of fixed-axis gears, and two synchronizers, this configuration achieves multi-gear series-parallel and dual-mode power split, pioneering the use of power split for shifting, resulting in smoother engine speed control and achieving CVT (continuously variable transmission)-like seamless shifting and outstanding fuel efficiency.

Paired with advanced electric drive systems, hybrid-specific engines, the i-Control intelligent electronic control system, and high-security durable batteries, the Mach PHREV technology integrates multiple new energy driving modes and advantages. It offers plug-in hybrid electric, range extended electric, and pure electric capabilities, achieving more efficient driving than plug-in hybrid electric systems alone, providing the battery-electric driving experience of range extended electric vehicles, and addressing range anxiety associated with pure electric vehicles.

Backed by the i-Control intelligent electronic control system, the Dongfeng Mach PHREV features an industry-leading AI predictive energy management system, which utilizes dual predictions based on travel conditions and driving habits. It employs self-learning scenario recognition AI algorithms to automatically implement optimal control strategies for different power modes, enhancing real-world energy consumption performance automatically, realizing "road-aware energy control."

In terms of batteries, the Mach battery utilizes a multi-dimensional support structure and multi-dimensional safety design to construct a super-high-strength battery frame, akin to "military-grade safety armor." With quadruple safety reinforcement of the battery cells, it has passed rigorous safety tests and obtained authoritative safety certifications in the industry. Notably, Dongfeng's self-developed lithium dendrite self-repair technology, pioneered in mass production, significantly alleviates battery degradation, potentially increasing battery lifespan by 33%, ensuring the battery's full charge-discharge cycle lifespan exceeds 2,000 times.

At the launche event, the Dongfeng Aeolus L7, the first model equipped with the Mach PHREV technology, made its debut. The L7 is Dongfeng Aeolus brand's first plug-in hybrid electric SUV model, which further accelerates Dongfeng Aeolus' transition to new energy vehicles.
