SMM Steel Morning Meeting Minutes: Negative feedback on raw materials, finished product prices continue to decline

According to SMM research, the sample electric furnace factories of 50 major construction material producers in China had a 42.20% operating rate, a decrease of 2.08 percentage points month-on-month; the capacity utilization rate was 41.99%, a decrease of 1.35 percentage points month-on-month. Short-process steel mills are facing difficulties in increasing production in the short term due to losses and shipment pressures. Furthermore, the number of maintenance shutdowns at long-process steel mills has recently increased...

[ Bharat Coking Coal Output Grows 2.8% in August ]

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) announced that its coking coal production increased by 2.8% year-on-year to 2.18 million tonnes in August 2026. Despite a sharp 65.9% drop in non-coking coal output, the core metallurgical segment drove total raw coal production to 2.21 million tonnes for the month. Opencast mining operations were the primary contributors to this volume, generating 2.19 million tonnes of the total yield.
