Huachen BMW: Promoting the Recycling of Old Batteries for New Energy Vehicles"
During this year's National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Zhang Tao, a member of the CPPCC and the factory director of Huachen BMW Brilliance Automotive (Shenyang) Co., Ltd., focused on the recycling and utilization of power batteries for new energy vehicles, providing suggestions and recommendations.
Effective recycling and utilization of retired power batteries can improve the efficiency of power battery recycling, maximize the use of scarce metal resources such as lithium, nickel, and cobalt, reduce the carbon emissions during the lifecycle of power batteries, and achieve the goals of "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality". Currently, the recycling of old batteries in China is not ideal, and many of them have not been properly recycled and treated, which seriously disrupts the normal order of power battery market recycling and increases environmental and safety hazards. Although retired power batteries represent a huge "urban mine", improper disposal can turn them into a dangerous "volcano". Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate the establishment of a power battery recycling and utilization system.
