According to SMM research, in December 2023, the total output of 40 domestic independent steel mills was 3.3538 million tons, with an operating rate of 59.7%, a decrease of 2.8 percentage points from November. Nationally, the operating rates in various regions are still severely differentiated, with significant declines in Hebei, Shandong, Anhui, Sichuan, and Inner Mongolia, while Jilin, Jiangsu, and Yunnan have seen some improvement in operating rates. [ Bharat Coking Coal Output Grows 2.8% in August ]

Despite a sharp 65.9% drop in non-coking coal output, the core metallurgical segment drove total raw coal production to 2.21 million tonnes for the month.
