The team of Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco) Light Alloy Co., Ltd. recently successfully completed a casting, producing a large-sized AZ series high-performance deformable magnesium alloy plate ingot (430*1280mm*L). This breakthrough in the production of large-sized plate ingots using semi-continuous technique was achieved by independently completing the entire process from the design and simulation of the crystallizer, to the preparation of the alloy, and the casting. This breakthrough solved the technological difficulties in the preparation of large-sized magnesium alloy ingots, further expanding the application of deformable magnesium alloys in large structural components, and significantly reducing the production cost of magnesium alloy large-scale structural components.
