The Quebec government has recently approved the construction of an energy storage manufacturing plant by the technology company Réseau Allégé Québec (RAQ). The Quebec Ministry of Environment has granted environmental and construction permits for the RAQ plant under development in Ville de Shawinigan. The first phase of 7GWh capacity has been approved, and the second phase project plans to increase the capacity to 20GWh. The construction services provider Broccolini Construction has conducted preliminary design for the first phase of the plant, and it is expected that the first phase of construction will begin in 2024.
