The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) data showed that at the end of October, the social inventory of five major varieties of steel in 21 cities was 8.57 million tons, a decrease of 430,000 tons, or 4.8%, from the previous month, a decrease of 390,000 tons, or 4.4%, from the end of September, an increase of 1.05 million tons, or 14.0%, from the beginning of the year, and an increase of 210,000 tons, or 2.5%, from the same period last year. At the end of October, the inventory of rebar was 3.36 million tons, a decrease of 250,000 tons, or 6.9%, from the previous month, a decrease of 470,000 tons, or 12.3%, from the end of September, an increase of 280,000 tons, or 9.1%, from the beginning of the year, and an increase of 30,000 tons, or 0.9%, from the same period last year.

Despite a sharp 65.9% drop in non-coking coal output, the core metallurgical segment drove total raw coal production to 2.21 million tonnes for the month.
