Shanxi: Coal Industry Increases Production to Ensure Supply and Prepare for Peak Winter. Starting from October 15th, some northern regions have officially entered the heating season. In order to ensure energy and electricity supply and actively prepare for peak winter, the coal-producing province of Shanxi is increasing its coal production and supply. According to data released by Shanxi Statistics Bureau on October 23rd, the output of Shanxi's regular raw coal in the first nine months of this year was 1014.397 million tons, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year. With the arrival of the northern heating season, coal demand has increased rapidly. At present, the price of 5500 kcal power coal at northern ports is around 1020 yuan per ton. Industry insiders said that the main reason for the rise in coal prices is the increase in crude oil prices, which led to strong demand for coal chemical industry, and at the same time, the demand for coal continued to increase due to the heating season.

Opencast mining operations were the primary contributors to this volume, generating 2.19 million tonnes of the total yield.
