Spot zinc premiums in Ningbo slid further amid poor trading

In Ningbo market, #0 zinc was traded at 21855-22100 yuan/mt. The spot prices of regular brand were still quoted with premiums of 180-190 yuan/mt over the 2310 contract, and with discounts of 60 yuan/mt over the prices in the Shanghai market.

In Ningbo market, #0 zinc was traded at 21855-22100 yuan/mt. The spot prices of regular brand were still quoted with premiums of 180-190 yuan/mt over the 2310 contract, and with discounts of 60 yuan/mt over the prices in the Shanghai market. Mainstream quotes in Ningbo market were generally against the 2310 contract.

In the first trading session, Tiefeng zinc was quoted with premiums of 180-190 yuan/mt over the SHFE 2310 zinc contract. Yongchang zinc was quoted with premiums of 210-220 yuan/mt over the SHFE 2310 zinc contract. Downstream buyers favoured low-priced imported zinc, and the spot premiums of domestic zinc continued to fall. In the second trading session, the spot premiums were basically the same as in the first trading session. Overall, the downstream still tends to purchase relatively low-priced imported zinc. Spot premiums of domestic zinc continued to fall.

American West Metals reported that the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) for its high-grade Storm project in Nunavut, Canada, is slated for completion in Q3 2026, which will detail the parameters of a direct shipping ore (DSO) operation. Since the completion of the PEA last March, JORC-compliant resources have expanded by over 20% to 28.22 million tonnes, containing 608.7 million lbs of copper and 2.97 million oz of silver. While finalizing the PFS and advancing mine permitting, American West is expanding its exploration scope across the 110-kilometer-long belt of high-grade sediment-hosted copper and zinc mineralization. Notably, the Tempest target, located 40 kilometers south of the main Storm area, is defined by a 4-kilometer zone of surface gossans where grab samples have returned extraordinary grades of up to 30.8% zinc and 38.2% copper, highlighting the district's significant polymetallic potential.
