On the morning of August 15, at the conference of the important achievements of ecological civilization at the National Ecological Day home event, Zhao Chenxin, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, released the important achievements of the third anniversary of the major declaration of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. In 2020, China's carbon dioxide emissions were reduced by 48.4% from that of 2005, exceeding the first-phase goal of nationally determined contributions. On this basis, in the first two years of the 14th Five-Year Plan, China's carbon dioxide emission intensity further decreased by 4.6%, and energy saving and carbon reduction achieved remarkable results. In the next step, we will effectively fulfill the "double carbon" coordination responsibilities, adhere to the self-centered and strategic focus to implement the "1+N" policy system of carbon peak carbon neutrality, implement the "Ten actions of carbon peak" in a planned step by step, and optimize the path and way to achieve the "double carbon" goal. In addition, we will grasp the pace and intensity to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of production ways and lifestyles and carry out the effective implementation of the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. Through those measures, we will ensure the realization of the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality on schedule, and accelerate the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

SMM Daily Review: Lithium Carbonate Spot Prices Drifted Lower on September 2
Today, SMM battery-grade lithium carbonate spot prices drifted lower compared with the previous trading day. The lithium carbonate 2701 contract opened lower at 157,000 yuan/mt today, then fluctuated downward after the open. In the morning session, it traded weakly around the 156,000-157,000 yuan range, with an intraday high of 157,800 yuan/mt. Near midday, it quickly dropped to 153,200 yuan/mt, hitting a new intraday low. Around midday, prices seesawed repeatedly in the 154,000-156,000 yuan range. In the afternoon, bulls briefly pushed prices up but failed to break above the average price line. Prices weakened again in late trading, eventually closing down 3.2% at 154,800 yuan/mt, with open interest falling by 9,123 lots. In the spot market, downstream buyers purchased on dips as needed. At 155,000 yuan/mt and below, downstream spot order purchase willingness continued to recover. On the supply side, as prices drifted lower, willingness to sell spot orders remained weak, with some lithium chemical plants holding prices firm and holding back from selling. Overall, market inquiries and actual transactions were relatively active.

Battery-Grade Lithium Sulfide: Will Q4 See a Spike?
Key takeaway upfront: A Q4 spike is unlikely, but we do expect continued moderate growth. Monthly output is likely to settle in the 9–10 tonne range – a modest step-up from Q3, not an explosive leap.
