The US auto news website Electrek reported on August 1 that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into the newer Tesla Model 3 and Model Y over 12 reports of drivers losing steering control and power steering.
NHTSA issued a notice yesterday saying that the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) is conducting an initial evaluation of 2023 Tesla Model 3/Y vehicles due to reports of inability to steer and loss of power steering.
The office has initiated an initial assessment to assess the extent, frequency, manufacturing process, and severity associated with this condition. The investigation includes 280,000 Model 3/Y vehicles.
