SMM Statistics on Port Shipments of Steel Products under Domestic Trade during May 6-12

SMM statistics showed that China’s steel product port shipments under domestic trade totalled 6.61 million mt in the week of May 6-12, up 22% week-on-week.

SHANGHAI, May 15 (SMM) – SMM statistics showed that China’s steel product port shipments under domestic trade totalled 6.61 million mt in the week of May 6-12, up 22% week-on-week.

Steel product arrivals across Chinese ports under domestic trade were 5.82 million mt last week, up 4% on a weekly basis.

Exports of steel and related products

Port shipments outside China were 1.49 million mt last week, down 29% from a week ago. Shipments by Chinese ports for exports were 1.98 million mt, a decrease of 10% on a weekly basis.

According to China customs, China's exports of hot-rolled plate and coil totalled 955,600 mt in December 2022, up 16.47% month on month and 129.16% year on year.
