In April, the capacity utilisation rates in Hunan Province rebounded slightly month-on-month, as some small private mining enterprises in Youxian County resumed production. A small mine that produced Fe 63% concentrates yielded only 1,000 mt of output in April constrained by insufficient ROM and falling prices.

Mining enterprises in Chaling County have remained closed and are unlikely to restart production in the near term due to the stiffened government requirements for production resumption as several mining companies pointed out. Therefore, the local capacity utilisation rates are unlikely to rise further in May.
