The performance of wire and cable orders last week was weak, and the increase in downstream orders was insignificant after copper prices rose. According to SMM survey, the recent orders from the State Grid have not improved as expected. A company reported that they were still implementing last year’s orders from the State Grid.
It can be seen that the delivery time of some State Grid orders has been delayed for a long time. And most of the bid solicitations this year have been offered and won by distribution network, thus the boost to wire and cable from the power industry has fallen short of expectations.
In terms of new energy sector, the previous backlog of orders has basically been delivered, and new orders in photovoltaic and other industries have declined. Operating rates at some construction sites in south China fell due to the rainy season. As such, production schedules declined.
