Brief Analysis of PV Glass Exports in December 2022

In December 2022, China exported 219,500 mt of PV glass, a month-on-month increase of 7.6 & and a year-on-year increase of 26.66%; from January to December 2022, the cumulative export volume was 2.25 million mt, a year-on-year increase of 6.83%. Vietnam was the biggest importer and imported 46,900 mt of PV glass from China, down 4.48% on the month.

SHANGHAI, Jan 29 (SMM) - In December 2022, China exported 219,500 mt of PV glass, a month-on-month increase of 7.6 & and a year-on-year increase of 26.66%; from January to December 2022, the cumulative export volume was 2.25 million mt, a year-on-year increase of 6.83%. Vietnam was the biggest importer and imported 46,900 mt of PV glass from China, down 4.48% on the month.

The demand from Southeast Asia remained strong and the exports in December was 84,800 mt, a month-on-month increase of 16.48%. The major importers were Vietnam, India, South Korea, Cambodia and Thailand with exports accounted for 61.69% of the total amount. Compared with November, Vietnam's import amount decreased 4.48% to 46,900 mt, accounting for 21.37% of the total exports. India's import amount increased 15.98% month-on-month to 31,100 mt, accounting for 14.17% of the total exports. South Korea's import amount declined 8.88% on the month to 23,600 mt, accounting for 10.75%. Cambodia's import amount was increased 111.11% on the month to 19,000 mt, accounting for 8.67% of the total exports. Thailand's import amount increased 12.76% from the previous month to 14,900 mt, accounting for 6.79% of the total exports.

According to SMM, the exports in December increased mainly due to the impact of the newly-installed photovoltaics capacity overseas at the end of 2022, especially the Southeast Asian countries. In January 2023, due to the impact of the Chinese New Year holiday, domestic exports of PV glass will decline amid the halted logistics services and the holidays.
