Customs: Aluminium Semis Exports Rose 29.2% YoY in Jan-Apr, While Steel Exports Dropped 29.2% YoY

According to data released today by the General Administration of Customs: In the first four months of this year, the total value of China's foreign trade imports and exports was 12.58 trillion yuan, up 7.9% year-on-year. Among them, exports were 6.97 trillion yuan, up 10.3% year-on-year; imports were 5.61 trillion yuan, up 5% year-on-year.

SHANGHAI, May 9 (SMM) - According to data released today by the General Administration of Customs: In the first four months of this year, the total value of China's foreign trade imports and exports was 12.58 trillion yuan, up 7.9% year-on-year. Among them, exports were 6.97 trillion yuan, up 10.3% year-on-year; imports were 5.61 trillion yuan, up 5% year-on-year.

China's imports from and exports to ASEAN, the European Union, the United States and South Korea were 1.84 trillion yuan, 1.73 trillion yuan, 1.56 trillion yuan and 764.92 billion yuan respectively, up 7.2%, 6.8%, 8.7% and 8.4% year-on-year. ASEAN continued to be China's largest trading partner, accounting for 14.6% of China's total foreign trade value.

During the same period, China's imports and exports with countries along the "Belt and Road" totalled 3.97 trillion yuan, up 15.4% year-on-year. China's imports and exports with the other 14 RCEP member countries totalled 3.84 trillion yuan, up 3.9% year-on-year.

Exports:

Rare earth exports in April 2022 were 4,427 mt, an increase of 18.5% compared to April last year, and cumulative exports from January to April amounted to 17,107.2 mt, an increase of 9.4% year-on-year.

Steel exports in April 2022 were 4,977,000 mt, down 37.6% from April last year, and cumulative exports from January to April reached 18,156,000 mt, down 29.2% year-on-year.

Exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium semis reached 596,700 mt in April 2022, an increase of 36.5% compared to April last year, and cumulative exports from January to April reached 2,225,200 mt, an increase of 29.2% year-on-year.

Imports:

Imports of iron ore and its concentrates reached 86.056 million mt in April 2022, down 12.7% from April last year, and cumulative imports from January to April reached 354.38 million mt, down 7.1% year-on-year.

Imports of copper ore and its concentrates in April 2022 amounted to 1.884 million mt, down 1.9% compared with April last year, and the cumulative imports from January to April reached 8.234 million mt, up 4.5% year-on-year.

Imports of coal and lignite in April 2022 amounted to 23.549 million mt, up 8.4% compared with April last year, and the cumulative imports from January to April reached 75.406 million mt, down 16.2% year-on-year.

Steel imports in April 2022 were 956,000 mt, down 18.6% on April last year, and cumulative imports from January to April reached 4.174 million mt, down 14.7% year-on-year.

The import volume of unwrought copper and copper semis in April 2022 was 465,300 mt, down 4% from April last year, and the cumulative import volume from January to April reached 1,938,600 mt, up 0.9% year-on-year.

Rare earth imports in April 2022 amounted to 11,746.1 mt and the cumulative imports from January to April reached 42,064.1 mt, down 5.9% year-on-year.
