The National rare Earth functional Materials Innovation Center organized a meeting of experts on the implementation plan of "solid-state hydrogen storage system development and pilot production line construction".

Recently, the National rare Earth functional Materials Innovation Center organized an expert discussion meeting on the project implementation plan of "rare Earth hydrogen Storage Materials and Application Technology Innovation platform-solid hydrogen Storage system Development and pilot production Line Construction" in Baotou City. the meeting was held simultaneously by online network video and offline meetings. Yan Huizhong, senior engineer of Baotou rare Earth Research Institute, Sun Xiping, chairman of Baotou Jinmenghui Magnetic Materials Co., Ltd., Wang Xiquan, director of Baqida Intelligent Technology (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., Lou Shupu, senior engineer of Baotou rare Earth Research Institute, Li Baogu, senior engineer of Baotou rare Earth Research Institute, and Liu Wei, general manager of National rare Earth functional Materials Innovation Center, Deputy general manager Deng Yuan and other major leaders of other companies jointly attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the project manager first introduced the project implementation plan, made a specific introduction to the pre-technical work results, existing equipment and R & D team, and analyzed the project construction scale, schedule, investment and expected benefits. By raising questions, answers, consulting opinions and giving suggestions, experts agree that the project aims at the major needs and key technical issues of solid-state hydrogen storage materials and applications. Research on key technologies such as efficient hydrogen absorption / desorption characteristics of hydrogen storage alloys and thermal mass management and control of solid hydrogen storage systems is carried out. An automatic device for hydrogen recovery, storage and reuse is designed and manufactured to meet the application requirements through operation and evaluation. The standard system of solid state hydrogen storage materials and applications under different application conditions is gradually established. The construction of a pilot production line of solid-state hydrogen storage system with an annual production capacity of 10 sets can stimulate the potential of rare earth hydrogen storage materials and promote the comprehensive utilization of rare earth resources. at the same time, optimize the industrial structure of hydrogen use, balance the distribution of hydrogen resources, and in the field of hydrogen application, help enterprises save energy and reduce emissions.

Through demonstration, experts believe that the preliminary work of the project has a solid foundation, reasonable capital budget, clear objectives, prominent focus and advanced nature, so they unanimously agree that the implementation plan is demonstrated.

In the next step, the National rare Earth functional Materials Innovation Center will sign a project cooperation agreement with relevant units and carry out the construction of a pilot demonstration line.

South American Legislation Reshapes Supply, Europe Accelerates Magnet Delivery and Military-Civil Separation [SMM Rare Earth Overseas Weekly Review]
This week, rare earth prices outside China remained generally stable, with terbium oxide and terbium metal both down $12/kg. On the policy front, Argentina and Brazil advanced legislation on national rare earth strategies, strengthening sovereign resource review and local processing requirements. On the industrial front, Neo’s Estonia magnet plant achieved its first commercial shipment of EV traction motor magnets; Saudi Arabia discovered 114 million mt of rare earth-uranium resources; Ucore received additional funding from the US Department of Defense to advance samarium and gadolinium separation. Overall, the ex-China supply chain is accelerating its transition from “resource competition” to a realization phase of “policy rights confirmation + separation scale-up + magnet delivery.”
