Indonesia President Re-iterated Bans on Nickel Mineral Exports

According to sources, Indonesian President Jokowi admitted that the ban on raw ore export had not been without challenges, as the European Union (EU) has filed a lawsuit against Indonesia’s nickel ore export ban at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

SHANGHAI, Mar 3 - According to sources, Indonesian President Jokowi admitted that the ban on raw ore export had not been without challenges, as the European Union (EU) has filed a lawsuit against Indonesia’s nickel ore export ban at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

He said in a briefing at the National Military and Police Leadership Conference on Tuesday March 1 that “since 2020, I have been saying we should stop exporting nickel ore, and the exports must be at least semi-finished products or finished products. This is what we call added values.”

Jokowi said that the government's decision to stop nickel exports was only the first step. In addition, the government will gradually stop exporting other raw materials for the benefit of its people and economy.
