Nickel position report for the week ended December 31, LME

The following is the report on nickel positions in LME for the week ended December 31:

Note: since December 2017, LME has begun to publish dealer position reports in a new format (the new COTR report) in accordance with the requirements of the second edition of the MiFID II (EU Financial instrument Market Directive. The new MiFID II dealer position report will release weekly position data as of last Friday every Tuesday.

In accordance with the requirements of MiFID II, the new LME position report is divided into five types of business, namely: (1) investment companies or credit institutions; (2) investment funds; (3) other financial institutions: (4) commercial institutions; and (5) operators who comply with EU Directive 87 of 2003 (the basic legal document for the establishment of an emissions trading system in the EU) (this type of business is not applicable to LME at present)

In the new version of COTR, (1) investment companies or credit institutions are roughly equivalent to the old version of fund managers; and (4) commercial institutions are roughly equivalent to the old version of producers / traders / processors / users.

The old CTOR report announced that the business types include fund managers, brokers / index dealers, producers / traders / processors / users.
