Eastern Steel Commenced Construction of 240,000 mt/year Silico-Manganese Alloy Project in Malaysia

Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd commenced construction of its 240,000 mt/year silico-manganese alloy project in Malaysia.  The project is constructed in two phases.

SHANGHAI, Dec 28 (SMM) – Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd commenced construction of its 240,000 mt/year silico-manganese alloy project in Malaysia.  The project is constructed in two phases.

In the first phase, a workshop, two 33 MVA fully enclosed manganese-silicon alloy RKEFs will be built, which is equipped with a 36 m2 sintering machine, a raw material yard and other public and auxiliary facilities.

The project is expected to be completed and put into production in September 2022.

In May and June 2026, battery-grade manganese sulphate entered a demand off-season, with overall market conditions edging slightly lower, though the decline was very limited and avoided a rapid, sharp drop. Earlier in H1, driven by the benefits of the ternary battery export tax rebate policy, downstream players front-loaded their export orders, causing a period of tight market supply.
