ZTE Energy successfully developed "Ultra-thin-walled Seamless Steel Tube Rolling equipment and Technology"

On December 3, the ultra-thin stainless steel seamless steel pipe with an outer diameter of 610 mm, a wall thickness of 1.8 mm and a length of 8 m, developed by ZTE Energy equipment Co., Ltd., was successfully put off the line on a new cold rolling mill developed by ourselves, and successfully passed the inspection project stipulated in the trial production plan.

Its outer diameter non-roundness, wall thickness non-uniformity and length are better than those in the trial-production scheme, and other performance indexes also meet the requirements of the trial-production scheme, and will be displayed as exhibits at the 2021 China Nuclear Energy High quality Development Conference held in Shenzhen.

The ultra-thin-walled steel pipe is the first large-diameter thin-walled seamless steel pipe with a diameter-to-wall ratio of more than 300 produced by rolling technology in the world. "diameter-to-wall ratio" refers to the outer diameter of stainless steel pipe divided by wall thickness, the larger the value, the greater the difficulty of production. Previously, it was very difficult to manufacture seamless steel tubes with a diameter-to-wall ratio of more than 80 due to the restriction of equipment, materials, technology and other factors.

Ma Xiaojun, deputy chief engineer of ZTE Energy equipment Co., Ltd., said that after several years of hard work, the R & D team successfully developed a new type of cold-rolled tube equipment after overcoming numerous technological problems. Compared with the traditional process, this new type of rolling mill has the advantages of high yield, low energy consumption, simplified technological process and low requirements for raw material steel pipe.
