On December 5, the signing ceremony of BYD's new energy auto parts project and the opening ceremony of the industrial park were held in Xi'an. The project, with a total investment of 15 billion yuan, is located in two major areas of the high-tech zone, namely, Caotang Base and Jixian Garden, mainly to build electric assembly factory, motor factory, Seiko center, gear factory, electric control factory, power factory, brake factory and other core parts production plants of new energy vehicles, and to build a high-speed test track supporting BYD's Xi'an R & D center, which will achieve an annual output value of about 70 billion yuan after reaching production.
Public data show that BYD's road to building cars originated in Xi'an. In 2003, BYD acquired Qinchuan Automobile Factory in Xi'an, thus obtaining a vehicle production license, and officially settled in Xi'an High-tech Zone in the same year.
Battery Network previously learned in the process of research that BYD has built BYD High-tech Industrial Park, BYD Xi'an New Energy Industrial Base and BYD Shangluo Industrial Park in Shaanxi Province. Relying on the three major production bases, BYD's business in Shaanxi Province spans passenger vehicles, electronics, solar energy, auto finance, commercial vehicles, rail transit and power batteries. Shaanxi Province has become BYD in addition to the Guangdong headquarters. the province with the most comprehensive industrial layout.
On the key projects in Xi'an, the 300000 new energy passenger vehicles expansion project and the annual 30GWh power battery super factory project signed by BYD in 2018 have been put into production one after another, and the high-end smart terminal industrial park project signed at the beginning of 2019 has started construction. After these three major projects have all reached production and efficiency, the output value will be increased by more than 100 billion yuan.
This year, BYD's new energy vehicle project began to increase production by 300000, and will achieve the target of producing 600000 new energy vehicles a year. At the same time, BYD Xi'an Power Battery Super Factory has put into production two phases, the first phase has a planned production capacity of 10GWH, all of which are used for external supply and energy storage batteries, and has already been put into production; the second phase of the planned production capacity of 20GWH, which began construction in April this year, with a total investment of 12 billion yuan, is planned to build three DM-i dedicated power blade battery production lines.
In terms of production and sales, since the beginning of this year, BYD's sales of new energy vehicles have increased by 10, 000 units each month in the past seven months with technologies such as blade batteries and DM-i super-hybrid, and exceeded 90, 000 units for the first time in November, especially the monthly production and sales of Qin series and Song series models made in Xi'an exceeded 55000 units. In 2021, Xi'an BYD expects to produce more than 400000 cars, and the output value of the base will exceed 70 billion yuan, which will double the growth.
It is worth noting that on November 4, the General Office of the Xi'an Municipal people's Government issued the implementation opinions on accelerating the High-quality Development of the New Energy vehicle Industry, pointing out that during the 14th five-year Plan period, the number of new energy vehicles in the city has continued to increase, and the number of new energy vehicles in the city will reach about 500000 by 2025.
The completion of BYD's new project will make an important contribution to the development of new energy vehicle industry cluster in Shaanxi Province.
