According to foreign media reports, the number of cars produced by Audi at its German plant has decreased as the semiconductor crisis continues to hinder the development of the automobile industry in the fourth quarter. Audi said Germany's Ingolstadt (Ingolstadt) and Nekasurm (Neckarsulm) plants were continuing to cut car production.

At Audi's Ingolstadt plant, production line 1 for the A4 and A5 models cancelled this week's evening shift, and line 2 for the A3, A4 and A5 models also cancelled the night shift, as early as last week. The No. 3 production line mainly produces A3 and Q2 models, and the production line only operates on the morning shift, eliminating the night shift or night shift.

A spokesman for Audi said the situation was better at the Necasurm plant, which only has a single shift on production line C, which mainly produces A6 and A7 models. The R8 and e-Tron GT models at the Boellinger Hoefe factory in Necasurm can continue to go offline without any problems.

German carmakers are short of new car parts because of the semiconductor crisis, and the situation is not expected to improve until mid-2022.

Daimler and BMW, Audi's competitors in the high-end car market, have also sold significantly less cars this year than in previous years, and their factories in Germany are not producing at full capacity. Last week, Volkswagen was forced to stop production of electric vehicles for a week as chip shortages affected production of important control units.

Ford also said that its production in Europe continued to decline due to a shortage of semiconductors, and that 3/4 of Ford's plants were facing shutdowns or a slowdown in production. An analyst at AutoForecast Solution estimates that Ford lost production of 375000 cars in Europe.
