Asked if it would supply batteries to Apple and other companies, Panasonic said Tesla was a priority in principle, but within its capabilities, it did not rule out and was considering the possibility of working with other companies.

According to Teslarati news on the 2nd of this month, two trucks loaded with battery production equipment drove into the (Gigafactory Texas) storage area of the Texas superfactory in Tesla, marked "positive production line 1" and "negative production line 1" respectively. The move may mean that Tesla has begun to install equipment for the 4680 production line and is ready to trial-produce 4680 batteries, the report said.

At the end of September, the 4680 pilot production line of the Tesla Fremont Kato Road plant expanded the recruitment scale, which was also seen by foreign media as a sign that 4680 batteries were about to be produced.

To sum up, the above trends also confirm Tesla's recent statement to a certain extent. The company has previously revealed that the 4680 battery project is progressing smoothly and is producing more battery packs for testing; the first 4680-battery cars are expected to be delivered in early 2022. At the same time, Tesla is working with Panasonic, Samsung SDI, LG Energy and other battery manufacturers to produce 4680 batteries, which is expected to reach 100GWh by the end of next year.

Battery factory competes for 4680 industry chain to benefit from many aspects.

Tesla unveiled the 4680 battery on Battery Day in 2020, which has more than five times the capacity of the 2170 battery currently in use. Tesla approached the company before last year's Battery Day and decided to choose 4680 as the best battery size, taking into account factors such as cost, the vehicle itself and the performance of cylindrical batteries, Panasonic said.

Auto analyst Zhang Xiang said in an interview with Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily that Tesla urgently needs new technology to stabilize his competitive position, and that carrying 4680 batteries "will help Tesla's own sales growth."

Looking at the entire battery industry, in addition to the above Panasonic and other overseas manufacturers, Yiwei Lithium Energy and Honeycomb Energy have also devoted themselves to 4680 research and development. Enrollment Securities report pointed out that as Tesla and other car companies have been equipped with 4680 batteries, the development of high-nickel batteries is expected to speed up, shell manufacturing technology, ear welding and other links may appear corresponding progress and changes.

Specific to the industrial chain, on the one hand, Tianfeng Securities analyst Sun Xiaoya pointed out that 4680 batteries will bring the promotion of all-material system ASP, in which incremental logic is silicon-based negative electrodes, carbon nanotubes, LiFSI, China Baoan, Tiannai Technology, and Divine Materials have been laid out one after another.
