Iron Ore Arrivals at Chinese Ports Down 3.63 million mt from the Last Session

SHANGHAI, Sep 23 (SMM) – According to data tracked by SMM, 59 ships arrived at domestic main ports during September 13-19. Arrivals of cargoes are estimated to stand at 8.93 million mt, down 3.63 million mt from the previous session, and down 3.27 million mt year on year.

Shipments that departed Australian ports were estimated to increase 1.27 million mt week on week and 3.47 million mt on the year to 18.74 million mt, and that from Brazilian ports rose 230,000 mt on the week and down 490,000 mt on the year to 6.1 million mt.

Iron ore arrivals fell significantly from the previous session, but departures from Australia and Brazil climbed on the week. While domestically speaking, the output of hot metal is expected to decline further amid production reduction policies. The overall supply of iron ore is likely to remain sufficient in the short term.
