Salt Lakes in Qinghai Bears over 60% of China's Lithium Resource Reserves

China's lithium resource reserves in 2020 stood at 5.1 million mt in metal content, with 25.5 million mt of lithium carbonate equivalent.

SHANGHAI, Aug 5 (SMM) - According to USGS statistics, China's lithium resource reserves in 2020 stood at 5.1 million mt in metal content, with 25.5 million mt of lithium carbonate equivalent.

Qinghai's lithium resource reserves stood at 15.91 million mt of lithium carbonate equivalent, accounting for 62.4% of China's total. Lithium concentration in central, eastern and western Ginell salt lake is the highest.

According to SMM statistics, China's lithium extraction from salt lakes stood at 242,000 mt since 2000, accounting for about 1.5% of the total reserves, and the remaining resources are very considerable.
