In June 2021, the domestic mobile phone market continued to decline year-on-year due to the early release of demand (shipments increased by 100.1% in the first quarter compared with the same period last year), mobile chip shortage, Huawei vacancy and other factors, but the decline narrowed to 10% from more than 30% in April and May, and achieved a month-on-month growth of 11.7%.

I. the overall situation of the domestic mobile phone market

In June 2021, 25.664 million mobile phones were shipped in the domestic market, down 10.4 percent from the same period last year, up 11.7 percent from the previous year, of which 19.791 million 5G phones were up 13.0 percent from the same period last year, up 18.2 percent from the previous month, accounting for 77.1 percent of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

From January to June 2021, the total number of mobile phones shipped in the domestic market totaled 174 million, an increase of 13.7 percent over the same period last year. The number of 5G mobile phones shipped was 128 million, an increase of 100.9 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 73.4 percent of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In June 2021, 32 new models of mobile phones were launched in China, down 33.3% from the same period last year, of which 20 were 5G phones, down 16.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 62.5% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

From January to June in 2021, a total of 213 new models were on the market, down 0.5% from the same period last year, of which 110 5G phones were up 1.9% from the same period last year, accounting for 51.6% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

Second, the composition of domestic and foreign brands in the domestic mobile phone market.

In June 2021, domestic brand mobile phones shipped 24.594 million units, down 9.9% from the same period last year, accounting for 95.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period; 28 new models were on the market, down 40.4% from the same period last year, accounting for 87.5% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

From January to June of 2021, domestic brand mobile phones shipped a total of 155 million units, an increase of 11.5% over the same period last year, accounting for 89.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. a total of 194 new models were on the market, down 1.0% from the same period last year, accounting for 91.1% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period.

III. The development of domestic smart phones

In June, 25.187 million smartphones were shipped, down 9.1% from the same period last year, accounting for 98.1% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

From January to June in 2021, 171 million smartphones were shipped, an increase of 14.8 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 98.2 percent of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In June 2021, 30 new models of smartphones were launched, down 18.9% from the same period last year, accounting for 93.8% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

From January to June in 2021, a total of 175 new models of smartphones were launched, an increase of 5.4% over the same period last year, accounting for 82.2% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
