SMM July 15: recently, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released data on the production, sales and loading of new energy vehicles in June 2021. Data show that Ningde, the leading domestic power battery company, installed 5.44GWH power batteries in June, accounting for 49.1% of the total, far surpassing BYD, which ranked second with 15.6%, with an absolute overwhelming advantage.

Not only that, in the domestic power battery enterprise loading statistics from January to June, the Ningde era once again dominated the list, accounting for 49.1% of the total 25.76GWh load, which can be said to be a dust-free ride.

It is reported that in the past January to June, the total number of power batteries installed in China totaled 52.5 GWH, an increase of 200.3% over the same period last year. Among them, the total loading of ternary batteries was 30.2GWH, accounting for 57.5% of the total loading, up 139.0% over the same period last year, and the total loading of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 22.2GWH, accounting for 42.3% of the total loading, up 368.5% over the same period last year.

As we all know, Ningde Times, as the world's leading power battery and energy storage system developer, its power battery market share has ranked first in the world for four consecutive years, and its achievements in power batteries are absolutely beyond doubt. However, it should be noted that with the rapid growth of the power battery industry, a serious imbalance between supply and demand has emerged. According to SNE Research, a global emerging energy market research agency, by 2023, the global demand for power batteries for electric vehicles will reach 406GWH, while the supply of power batteries is expected to be 335GWH, with a shortfall of about 18%. By 2025, the gap will continue to widen to about 40 per cent.

In the face of the upcoming "battery shortage", Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Ningde Times, also said at the recent shareholders' meeting that he could not bear to be disturbed by customers' demand for goods; and Yiwei LiNeng also disclosed in the announcement that at present, the company's existing venues and production lines are operating at full capacity, but demand will still be in short supply for nearly a year.

But even so, it is still unable to curb the explosive growth of the new energy vehicle industry. Recently, based on the good performance of the market, the car Federation has raised its forecast sales of new energy passenger vehicles in 2021 to 2.4 million vehicles from 2 million in February.

Under the condition that the supply of power battery falls short of demand, Ningde era, as the leading domestic power battery enterprise, its every move has been widely concerned by the industry. According to the latest news, on July 14, Ningde Times signed an omni-directional cooperation agreement with Yibin City to join hands in building Ningde era Southwest headquarters in Yibin Sanjiang New area, continuing its previous Sichuan Times Power Battery Phase 1 to Phase 6 projects with a total investment of 30 billion yuan signed with Yibin City, and continued to invest in the construction of Sichuan Times Phase 7, 8, 9, and 10 projects to help Yibin speed up the construction of the world's largest power battery production base.

Some industry insiders predict that, coupled with the existing production capacity, it is estimated that by 2025, Ningde era battery capacity will be expanded to more than 450GWh. Soochow Securities is even more bold to speculate that in the next few years, Ningde era only new production capacity is expected to reach more than 300GWh, corresponding equipment investment of nearly 60 billion yuan.
