From the current car manufacturers have laid out the power battery market, we can see that the era of self-made batteries has come. Not only that, the whole car factory is obviously not only satisfied with self-made batteries, but has embarked on the road of battery technology competition, which is bound to further stir up the highly competitive battery market, and battery companies have already begun to "find ways" to stabilize their own position.
Great Wall Motor launches Dayu Battery
On June 29, at the launch of the Great Wall Coffee Smart 2.0, Great Wall officially released the "Dayu Battery". Shan Hongyan, vice president of Great Wall Automobile, said that the battery is named "Dayu battery", mainly because the principle of security uses Dayu flood control "dredging" concept, using multi-step commutation system, fast extreme cold suppression system, multi-stage directional explosion control system, fire box system to ensure battery safety from the Pack level, playing the effect of no fire and no explosion.
It is reported that Dayu battery has gathered dozens of core technology patents and 8 new design concepts. Pass the most stringent safety tests in the world to enhance the safety of power batteries to a new level in the industry! As the next generation of new power batteries, equipped with Great Wall's new energy series models, will be fully used in 2022.
For this technology, the Great Wall Dayu battery will open patents for the whole industry free of charge.
According to the video of the thermal runaway test released by Great Wall Automobile, the Dayu battery uses a high energy density Sanyuan 811 high nickel cell. In the test test, the double cells of the central cell are heated to heat out of control, and the highest temperature in the experiment is more than 1000 ℃. But there was still no fire and explosion, and the flue gas temperature of Dayu battery was lower than 1000 ℃.
Yesterday, Great Wall Motor also announced the layout plan of the new energy industry chain at the 2025 strategy conference, which will achieve global annual sales of 4 million vehicles by 2025, 80% of which are new energy vehicles, with operating revenue of more than 600 billion yuan. In the next five years, the cumulative R & D investment of Great Wall will reach 100 billion yuan.
The 80% share means that Great Wall will need to sell 3.2 million new energy vehicles in 2025, so where will the supply of battery capacity come from?
It is understood that the cobalt-free laminated battery independently developed by Honeycomb Energy is expected to form the capacity of 215GWh by 2025, when 30% of the batteries will be supplied to Great Wall and the other 70% will be solved by market. In other words, Honeycomb Energy will gradually reduce the supply proportion of Great Wall cars and formally increase external supply.
Yang Hongxin, chairman of Honeycomb Energy, said at the Great Wall Motor 2025 strategy conference that 215GWh capacity by 2025 is only a conservative target of Honeycomb Energy, and there are more radical targets within it.
Competition of new battery technology in whole car factory
In fact, not only Great Wall Motor is investing in new battery technology, but many new energy vehicle companies have already taken action. Because, in the electrified era, because of the high proportion of battery cost, battery enterprises have become the most influential part of the industrial chain, and the whole vehicle factory can not be willing to put up with this situation.
Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the all-China bus Federation, wrote in an article: "I always think that it is a trend for whole car companies to build their own batteries." This is because the cost of the battery is too high, accounting for at least 25% of the car price. Germany's Volkswagen had a strong fiscal year in 2019, delivering 10.97 million new cars worldwide, with sales of 252.6 billion euros and a profit of 6.7 per cent in 2019, according to figures. If it is changed to battery-driven, the cost of the battery is also the concept of hundreds of billions of euros, which is really too large a value. if there is no battery profit, Volkswagen's sales profit margin will drop sharply, and Volkswagen's value will drop sharply. and the series of problems caused by poor profits will be very serious. "
Cui Dongshu pointed out, "Lithium battery is a non-standard electrochemical product, unlike basic raw materials such as automobile steel plate, not every company makes the same lithium battery." Lithium battery is a product with rapid development of technology, so vehicle enterprises are bound to extend to the battery field in the future. "
Since the beginning of this year, this trend has become increasingly prominent, the whole car factory may directly participate in battery research and development and production, or increase investment in related enterprises to further enhance the advantages of the supply chain. From the relevant announcements and reports at home and abroad, the battery technology routes of some vehicle factories are sorted out, as follows:
SAIC Zhiji silicon-doped lithium battery
At the end of last year, Zhiji, jointly built by SAIC, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech and Alibaba, announced that its model would be equipped with batteries with "silicon-doped lithium" technology jointly developed with Ningde era, despite an energy density of 240Whplash kg. But the mileage will also reach 1000 kilometers.
BYD blade battery
In March last year, BYD officially launched the blade battery, while accelerating the external supply layout of the battery. At present, it has carried Red Flag models, and the supply cooperation with Hyundai Motor in South Korea may begin in 2022.
In March this year, news about BYD's first overseas battery factory also poured in. According to the internal recruitment information released by BYD's Fudi Battery, Fudi Battery's first overseas battery factory will be located in Europe.
In addition, at the launch of the new car on April 7, BYD announced that BYD's all-electric model will begin to fully switch blade batteries and will also be open to other new energy vehicle manufacturers around the world. Meanwhile, on April 19, Li Yunfei, general manager of BYD's brand and public relations department, said that Fudi battery would press ahead with the listing within a year or two.
In terms of battery production, BYD currently has 8 production bases, including Baolong in Shenzhen, Kengzi in Huizhou, Hi-tech in Xi'an, Xining in Qinghai, Guiyang in Guizhou, Bishan in Chongqing, Ningxiang in Changsha and Bengbu in Anhui Province. the blade battery has been put into production and the planned production capacity has reached 135GWH!
150 degree solid state battery of Lailai automobile
On January 9 this year, Xilai unveiled its 150kWh solid-state battery pack at the Chengdu NIO Day 2020 conference, which stirred up three waves. For a while, there was a technology frenzy in the field of power batteries, and Xilai also gained ultra-high traffic at that time.
Xilai officially announced that the battery pack can achieve the energy density of 360Wh/kg, allowing a range of more than 1000 kilometers, and will be used in the fourth quarter of 2022.
After the enthusiasm for solid-state batteries cooled slightly, inside and outside the industry began to carefully analyze the three core technologies of solid-state batteries mentioned at the automobile press conference, "in-situ solidified solid-liquid electrolyte", "inorganic pre-lithiated silicon-carbon negative electrode", and "nano-coated ultra-high nickel cathode". Industry insiders said that in essence, there is no subversive technology, that is, heat-solidified battery, is not the real sense of solid-state battery, just a new term.
However, it is undeniable that the emergence of the 150kWh solid-state battery pack of Lailai Automobile confirms the enthusiasm and desire of the new energy automobile industry circle and capital market for the new technology of power battery.
GAC Ean graphene battery and magazine battery
On January 15, Guangzhou Auto EA issued a new notice on its official Weibo, saying that its graphene-based super fast-charging battery has entered the test stage of mass production. According to the official poster information, the graphene-based super fast charging battery can be fully charged to 80% in 8 minutes, using silicon as the anode material, and the NEDC has a range of up to 1000 km. If calculated according to the average daily mileage of less than 20km for most people, the introduction of this battery means that the silicon negative battery will enter the "monthly charging era".
Official information also shows that the graphene-based super fast-charging battery has passed the battery shooting safety test, "will soon be in mass production, do not have to wait until next year."
On March 10, GAC Ean released a new generation of power battery safety technology-magazine battery, which realized for the first time in history that the whole package of ternary lithium battery could not catch fire. On May 20, GAC Ean shared another video of the magazine battery acupuncture test, unlocking the excellent performance of the magazine battery system safety technology applied to lithium iron phosphate.
So far, magazine battery has become the only safety technology used in both ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery in the industry.
Dongfeng Lan Tu "three without batteries"
In March this year, Dongfeng's high-end brand Lantu announced that the ternary lithium battery carried in the pure electric version of its model Lantu FREE had passed the new GB test. After testing, the battery has no smoke, no fire and no explosion after the thermal runaway trigger and send out the thermal event alarm signal.
Lantu Automobile said that Lantu FREE battery pack industry pioneered the "three-dimensional thermal insulation wall" technology: the cell adopts small unit + explosion-proof valve hard shell design, and advanced super thermal insulation technology is introduced between the cells to ensure that the minimum energy is released when the heat is out of control. The introduction of heat insulation and flame retardant layer with resistance to 1000 ℃ at the top of the cell can effectively protect the safety of the occupant warehouse. In addition, the battery pack creates an original battery safety monitoring and early warning model on the basis of the original temperature and voltage early warning.
Porsche develops silicon negative high performance battery
Porsche is developing high-performance batteries that use silicon negative electrodes to replace traditional graphite negative electrodes, in order to achieve higher energy density and fast charging performance, according to industry website Green Car Congress. New electrolytes and additives can even work at temperatures above 75 degrees Celsius.
