[Tesla will purchase more than $1 billion of battery raw materials from Australia every year] according to foreign media reports, Tesla said that in view of Australia's reliable mining industry and responsible production technology, the company will allocate more than $1 billion a year to purchase battery raw materials in Australia. "We expect our annual spending on the Australian mining industry to increase to more than $1 billion in the next few years," Tesla Chairman Robyn Denholm said at an Australian Mining Commission event on June 2.

According to foreign media reports, Tesla said that given Australia's reliable mining industry and responsible production technology, the company will allocate more than $1 billion a year to purchase battery raw materials in Australia.

"We expect our annual spending in the Australian mining industry to grow to more than $1 billion over the next few years," Tesla Chairman Robyn Denholm said at an Australian Mining Commission event on June 2, benefiting from the growing supply chain of electric car batteries and an environmental, social and governance-focused (ESG), in the era of environmentally friendly energy. Denholm himself is from Australia.

Denham said Tesla had purchased 3/4 of lithium raw materials and more than 1/3 of nickel from Australia, but did not mention the amount. "Australian mining companies do have a good reputation, excellent expertise and professionalism, and manufacturers who are increasingly concerned about meeting current and future ESG requirements are more likely to choose them."

This is in line with President Joe Biden (Joe Biden) 's new policy of relying on alliance partners to supply most of the metal needed to make electric cars, with Australia, Canada and Brazil among the countries expected to benefit. Last month, two government officials revealed that the United States would work to process the metals locally into battery parts as part of an environmental strategy.

This year, Australia's exports of hard rock lithium, or spodumene, are expected to reach 1 billion Australian dollars, and nickel exports are expected to reach 4 billion Australian dollars, according to government data. Tesla also supplies batteries to Australia to store energy generated by rooftop solar panels, which have the highest per capita density in the world.
