At the meeting, Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD's board of directors, said that from today on, BYD's pure electric models are fully equipped with blade batteries, and all batteries are tested by acupuncture. Wang Chuanfu also said that at present, the blade battery has been supplied to the Red Flag brand.
BYD officially launched the blade battery on March 29 last year, which uses lithium iron phosphate technology and greatly improves its volume utilization through structural innovation, and finally achieves the design goal of installing more cells in the same space, according to previous reports from Ji WeChat. Compared with the traditional battery pack, the volume utilization of the "blade battery" has increased by more than 50%.
Safety is a prominent advantage of the blade battery. A video released by BYD previously shows that in the acupuncture experiment of extreme testing, the "blade battery" did not get out of control after it was pierced by a steel needle, and the temperature was always kept between 30 and 60 ℃, which can effectively prevent the battery from getting out of control.
