On March 11, Guoxuan Hi-Tech announced that based on the company's strategic planning and business development needs, Hefei Guoxuan Hi-Tech Power Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hefei Guoxuan") funded the establishment of wholly-owned subsidiaries Hefei Guoxuan Recycling Technology Co., Ltd. And Hefei Guoxuan New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. The two companies are respectively responsible for the recovery and reuse of lithium batteries, as well as the research and development, production and sales of negative materials.

In the view of Guoxuan Hi-Tech, with the rapid growth of the new energy vehicle industry, the scale of power lithium battery capacity has expanded. This overseas investment will improve the strategic layout of the company's upstream raw materials and battery recycling, further strengthen production cost control, consolidate the company's market position in the lithium battery industry, and meet the needs of the company's strategic development.

It is worth noting that on March 5, "speeding up the Construction of Power Battery Recycling system" was written into the 2021 government work report, which is also the first time that the "power battery recycling" plan has been included in the government work report.

According to the statistics of the Power Battery Application Branch, by the end of 2020, the cumulative scrap of new energy vehicles, including passenger cars, passenger cars and special-purpose vehicles, will be more than 450000, while the amount of decommissioned power batteries will be more than 35GWh. it is estimated that by the end of 2022, the cumulative amount of decommissioned power batteries will be as high as 94GWh.By 2025, this number may increase sharply to 246GWh.

If the decommissioned power battery can not be effectively recycled, it will cause damage to the social and ecological environment. It is worth mentioning that there are many metal elements worth recycling in power batteries. Take the current mainstream ternary batteries as an example, in which nickel, cobalt, manganese and lithium all have high economic value. "compared with mining metals, the metal resources recovered from power batteries have the advantages of low cost and high efficiency, and the key is to avoid environmental pollution during mining," industry insiders said.

At the same time, power battery enterprises actively extend the industrial chain and distribute the recycling of resources, which also helps to increase the supply source of power battery raw materials and grasp more industrial chain profits.

In addition to Guoxuan Hi-Tech, head battery companies such as Ningde Times are also extending to the power battery recycling end, while domestic and foreign mainstream battery manufacturers such as BYD, Yiwei Lithium Energy, Honeycomb Energy, LG New Energy, SKI, Samsung SDI are also extending to new materials.
