As the third generation aluminum-based materials, compared with the first-and second-generation aluminum-based materials, Al-Li alloy has less weight, higher strength and elastic modulus, and will gradually replace the first-generation aluminum-magnesium alloy and the second-generation aluminum-copper alloy. Previously, only the United States and Russia have relatively mature manufacturing capacity for large Al-Li alloy forgings. The successful extrusion of this Al-Li alloy material has laid the foundation for the development of China's Al-Li alloy industry and lightweight industry.

"this material is 3% lighter than pure aluminum, but after extrusion, its strength is increased by 6%, which is higher than that of aluminum-copper alloy and aluminum-magnesium alloy, and the added value of the product is high. The business of large-diameter aluminum-lithium alloy bars and tubes alone can create nearly 8 million yuan of profits for enterprises." The off-line of large diameter Al-Li alloy bars and pipes not only provides a strong guarantee for the high-precision and high-performance design and manufacture of aluminum alloy ring forgings with a diameter of 4 meters to 7 meters in China, but also lays a solid foundation for the development of enterprises and broadens the development field.
