Lenovo's share rose to 25.2% in the fourth quarter of 2020, while Hewlett-Packard fell to 20.9%, with Lenovo growing the fastest among the top three manufacturers, according to IDC. The year-on-year growth rate is as high as 29%, ranking first.

For the whole of 2020, Lenovo still ranks first with a market share of 24%, with a year-on-year growth rate of 12%. Apple is the fastest growing of all manufacturers, with a year-on-year growth rate of 29.1% and a market share of 7.6% in 2020, ranking fourth in the world after Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard and Dell.

Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for mobile devices at IDC, said: "due to strong demand and capacity shortages, the production potential of every part of the supply chain has reached its limit. Not only do PC manufacturers and ODM have to deal with component and capacity shortages, but logistics problems still exist, so suppliers are forced to reduce costs by air at the expense of shorter delivery times.

In a way, the last time the PC market grew so high was 13.7% in 2010. In the past 10 years, the PC market has experienced six years of decline, and the growth rate of the market has been flat and has changed a lot in one year. The question now is how long this recovery will last. "

Ryan Reith, vice president of IDC's global mobile device tracking program, said: "the PC market is moving forward like a speeding train, and all indications are that the runway with this good trend will have some room for growth, at least in the short or medium term. Last year's growth focused on home work and online learning, but we should not lose sight of the capabilities of the consumer market itself. We can see that sales of game computers and monitors are at an all-time high. We also see that in addition to education, Chrome has also penetrated into the consumer market. When we look back on this period later, history will show that this epidemic not only accelerates the purchasing power of the PC market, but also creates opportunities that may never happen again. "
