Iron ore arrivals at Chinese ports expanded 1.72 million mt on week

A total of 91 vessels carrying 14.79 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during October 25-31, SMM estimates.

SHANGHAI, Nov 3 (SMM) – A total of 91 vessels carrying 14.79 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports during October 25-31, SMM estimates. This was up 1.72 million mt from the previous week, and up 3.23 million mt from the same period last year. The amount of arrivals in Shandong jumped 53%, or 1.54 million mt, on the week, while those in Tangshan fell 1.07 million mt.

For the same week, iron ore deliveries leaving Australian ports rose 2.12 million mt on a weekly basis and 1.32 million mt on a yearly basis, to 16.75 million mt.

Shipments that departed Brazilian ports were estimated to increase 980,000 mt week on week to 8.5 million mt, up 800,000 mt year on year.
