SMM: October 13, China Electric charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance (hereinafter referred to as: charging Alliance) released charging pile operation data in September 2020.

As of September 2020, a total of 606000 public charging piles have been reported by member units in the alliance, including 350000 AC charging piles, 255000 DC charging piles and 488 AC / DC integrated charging piles.

From October 2019 to September 2020, about 12000 new public charging piles have been added every month.

From the point of view of provinces and cities, the characteristics of relatively concentrated public charging infrastructure construction and high charging power concentration still exist.

The public charging infrastructure built in Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Beijing, Zhejiang, Shandong, Anhui, Hebei, Hubei and Henan TOP10 areas accounts for 72.4%.

The amount of electricity charged throughout the country is mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Fujian, Beijing, Hubei, Zhejiang, Henan, Shandong and other provinces. The main flow of electricity is buses, and the proportion of passenger cars is gradually increasing. Sanitation logistics vehicles, taxis and other types of vehicles account for relatively small.

In September 2020, the country's total rechargeable electricity was about 750 million kWh, an increase of 20 million kWh, over the previous month, an increase of 51.8% over the same period last year, and an increase of 2.1% over the previous month.

From the point of view of operators, the concentration of public charging infrastructure operators is high.

As of September 2020, there were 9 charging piles operated by national charging operators with more than 10,000 charging piles. They are: 169000 for special calls, 145000 for Star charging, 100000 for National Electroweb, 49000 for Yunkaichong, 26000 for Yiwei Energy, 20, 000 for SAIC Anyue, 14000 for China Putian, 14000 for Shenzhen Electroweb, and 10, 000 for Wanma Aichong. These nine operators account for 90.3% of the total, and the rest account for 9.7% of the total.

As of September 2020, the vehicle piles of about 1.169 million vehicles were sampled through the whole vehicle enterprises of the members of the alliance, of which 357000 charging facilities were not equipped with vehicles, and the overall unequipped rate was 30.5%.

The three factors of self-construction of piles by group users, non-cooperation of residential property, and lack of fixed parking spaces are the main reasons for not building charging facilities in the car, accounting for 70.2%, and 29.8% of the other reasons.

By September 2020, the cumulative number of charging infrastructure in the country was 1.418 million, an increase of 27.2% over the same period last year.

High-Grade NPI Smelter Profits Squeezed as Ore Prices Rise and Sales Prices Dip
[SMM Nickel Flash] Based on nickel ore prices from 25 days ago, smelter profits for high-grade NPI remained high this week. However, from the current raw material side, ore prices from both the Philippines and Indonesia increased, while auxiliary material prices saw a slight pullback, leading to an increase in the cash cost of producing high-grade NPI from spot ore. At the same time, high-grade NPI prices experienced some pullback, making it difficult for smelter profits to see sustained improvement.

High-Grade NPI Prices Fall, Expected to Stabilize as Chinese New Year Approaches
[SMM Nickel Flash] This week, due to a sharp decline in futures triggering arbitrage selling, high-grade NPI prices fell significantly. However, after the selling activity subsided, upstream quotations and the market center gradually returned to normal levels, supported by cost factors. Looking ahead, as the Chinese New Year holiday approaches, market activity is expected to remain subdued, and high-grade NPI prices are projected to hover at highs with limited fluctuations.
