SMM9 March 25: Hydro will resume aluminum production at the B line of the Husnes primary plant in Norway at the end of November. The decision to restart was postponed earlier this year because of the market collapse caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Husnes has largely completed an upgrade of NOK 1.5 billion to restart Line B with technology derivatives piloted by Karm ø y, thereby raising operational and environmental performance to world-class levels.

Since the B production line was shut down in 2009 due to the financial crisis, the plant is now operating at the level of 100000 tons of primary aluminum per year. With the restart of the B production line, the output of the factory will gradually double.
