Social inventories of silicon metal in China increased this week, with stocks in Yunnan Kunming rising sharply.

SHANGHAI, Sep 25 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal in China increased this week, with stocks in Yunnan Kunming rising sharply.

SMM data showed that stocks across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port expanded 8,000 mt from the previous week to 72,000 mt as of Friday September 25.

Silicon plants in Yunnan started to ship cargoes to Kunming since last week as they worried that local coronavirus resurgence would restrain transport, and these cargoes arrived this week, which contributed to the sharp increase in local silicon inventories.

Stocks at Huangpu port and Tianjin port held largely stable this week.

Silicon social inventories are expected to rise further after the National Day holidays.
