2020 Planning of ironmaking and steelmaking capacity reduction and new input in Sichuan Province

SMM: in 2016, Sichuan Province reduced crude steel production capacity by 4.2 million tons and ironmaking capacity by 1.6 million tons in accordance with the deployment and target requirements of the national iron and steel industry. In 2017, in accordance with the country's overall requirements and deployment, crude steel production capacity was further reduced by 770000 tons and ironmaking capacity by 100000 tons. In May 2018, the last blast furnace and auxiliary facilities were dismantled and sealed, reducing ironmaking capacity by 570000 tons. So far, the main task of eliminating excess capacity in the iron and steel industry in Sichuan Province has been completed in an all-round way. There is no task of eliminating steel excess capacity from 2019 to 2020.

Since 2017, the province has implemented a total of 10 steel capacity replacement projects, with plans to withdraw ironmaking capacity of 1.151 million tons and steelmaking capacity of 11.51 million tons. Up to now, three trial production projects have been completed in 10 steel capacity replacement projects, with a steelmaking capacity of 2.66 million tons, and the steelmaking capacity for replacement has been withdrawn from 4.03 million tons.
