SMM: recently, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Lamica Co., Ltd. co-ordinated subcontracting unit carried out the first mining blasting of the Pombi copper and cobalt mine project, after the final blasting pile inspection confirmed that the blasting is safe and orderly and achieved the desired results.

A total of three blasting areas were planned, including one KE stope and two PN stope, with a total blasting of 130000 cubic meters. Since the start of infrastructure stripping on December 8, 2018, mining and stripping operations have continued to advance. Since the second half of this year, with the gradual downward extension of the mining pit and the gradual increase of large blocks and hard rock, the mining and stripping operation has become more difficult, and the blasting work has been put on the agenda. The company closely coordinated mining, stripping and blasting units to overcome the shortage of on-site personnel and equipment, accelerated the processing of related formalities such as blasting and explosive transport permits at the end of July, carried out piercing operations and deployment of blasting safety measures at the beginning of August, and finally confirmed that blasting conditions were available.

The success of the "first explosion" of Pangbi Copper-Cobalt Mine is an important breakthrough for the project to coordinate internal and external resources, overcome the unfavorable conditions of "unsealing with epidemic", and lay a solid foundation for the next trial production and operation of the project.
