Secondary lead smelters operating rates fell to 59.2%

Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 59.2% in the week ended August 28, down 0.8 percentage point from the previous week, showed an SMM survey.

SHANGHAI, Aug 28 (SMM) – Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Guizhou averaged 59.2% in the week ended August 28, down 0.8 percentage point from the previous week, showed an SMM survey.

The average operating rate in Anhui gained 6.4 percentage points on the week to 54.8% as Anhui Dahua ramped up production.

Improved procurement of battery scrap lifted the average operating rate in Henan by 1.1 percentage points to 71.3%.

The average operating rate in Jiangsu lost 13.3 percentage points to 66.7% as thin profits dampened enthusiasm for production.

The average operating rate in Guizhou remained unchanged at 44.2%.
