SMM News: recently, the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will allow mining companies closed by Genna Lopez (Gina Lopez) to resume operations.

Lopez's successor, former Army General Roy Simatu (Roy Cimatu), confirmed in a briefing on Wednesday July 22nd that the Ministry of Defense and Natural Resources audit team had made recommendations during the inspection of the mine.

During her tenure as environment minister, (Lopez) briefly ordered the closure of about 26 mining companies, citing various violations. Cimatu did not name the mining companies, but assured the public that they had corrected their mistakes.
