SMM News: the impact of the new crown epidemic and the adjustment of subsidy policy have led to a big "cooling" of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the first half of 2020.

According to the certificate data of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, from January to June this year, the production of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in China was 582units, down 58.7 percent from 1408 in the same period last year. The installed capacity of hydrogen fuel cells was 29669.4kW, compared with 45621.9kW in the same period in 2019. Thanks to the increase in hydrogen power in bicycles, the decline in hydrogen fuel cell installation was relatively small, down 35.0% from the same period last year.

The impact of the Xinguan epidemic is multifaceted, and the impact on the entire new energy vehicle industry is very obvious. For example, the output of pure electric vehicles in China in the first half of this year was 301000, down 40.3% from the same period last year. It is worth noting that the production of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles decreased by 58.7% in the same period, which is significantly higher than that of pure electric vehicles, and the pressure resistance is slightly weaker, which may reflect that hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are still not the focus of car companies.

The special purpose car suddenly falls and the bus picks up the girder alone.

In the first half of this year, the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles produced in China are still only passenger cars and special-purpose vehicles, and there are no passenger vehicles. Among them, passenger cars occupy the mainstream, and there are few special-purpose vehicles.

Data show that hydrogen fuel cell production fell by more than half in the first half of this year, mainly due to the reduction of hydrogen fuel vehicles. In the first half of 2019, the production of hydrogen fuel cell special purpose vehicles was 845, but only 33 were produced in the same period this year, a decrease of 96.10% compared with the same period last year. In the first half of 2019, the production of hydrogen fuel cell buses was 563, compared with 549 in the same period this year, a decrease of only 2.5%. It is reported that Zhongtong bus produced 600 hydrogen fuel cell special vehicles in the first half of 2019, which was not reproduced in the same period this year. In addition, many enterprises, such as Foshan Flying Chi and Nantong Gaokai Automobile, did not continue to produce special vehicles in the same period this year, resulting in a sharp drop in the production of hydrogen fuel cell special vehicles in the first half of this year.

In terms of manufacturers, a total of 11 companies produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the first half of this year.

Specifically, there are 19 hydrogen fuel cell models, including 14 passenger cars, which are mainly produced by Yunnan Wulong (1), Xiamen Jinlong (2), Foshan Flying car (2), Geely commercial vehicle (1), Zhongtong bus (1), Yangzhou Yaxing (1), Nanjing Jinlong (5), CRRC era (1) and other enterprises. Five special cars are mainly produced by Guangzhou Guangri (1), Zhongtong bus (1), Guangzhou sanitation (2), Fujian Longma sanitation (1) and other enterprises.

Some analysts believe that the sharp decline in the production of hydrogen fuel cell special-purpose vehicles this year is not only affected by the Xinguan pneumonia epidemic, which has affected the production progress of battery and car companies, but also due to the greater uncertainty of hydrogen fuel cell subsidy policy. car companies take the initiative to reduce the production of related models. "many cities regard buses and buses as demonstration vehicles for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, so the bus field is still the focus of car companies in the field of hydrogen fuel cells."

In April this year, the Ministry of Finance and other four ministries issued a financial subsidy policy for new energy vehicles in 2020, which adjusted the direction of subsidies for the development of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry:

The current subsidy for the purchase of fuel cell vehicles will be adjusted to select cities or regions with foundation, enthusiasm and characteristics, focusing on the technological research and industrial application of key components. The central government will reward the demonstration cities by "replacing compensation with awards".

The Ministry of Finance said that at present, the development of the fuel cell vehicle industry is facing some problems, mainly: lack of core technology and key components, lack of innovation awareness and capability, inadequate infrastructure construction; consumer subsidy policies are increasingly showing limitations in promoting industrial chain and infrastructure construction.

In view of these problems, the current subsidy policy for the purchase of fuel cell vehicles is adjusted to select some cities to carry out demonstration and application of fuel cell industrialization around the core technologies of key components of fuel cell vehicles, so as to form a fuel cell vehicle development model with reasonable layout, different emphasis and coordinated promotion.

It is obvious that the direction and intensity of national support for hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry policy have been adjusted in order to select areas with good foundation, good conditions, strong enthusiasm and characteristics.

The subsidy policy is no longer "flooding", "replacing compensation with awards" and key cities have not yet been delineated, and in order to avoid unnecessary huge investment, many car companies have become more cautious in the layout of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and the speed has slowed down accordingly.

The installed capacity is still in its infancy, and their respective advantages have not yet been highlighted.

A total of 13 enterprises provided hydrogen fuel cell systems for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the first half of this year, with a total installed capacity of 29669.4kW. In terms of supporting vehicles, at present, the installed capacity of the system is relatively small. Edelman hydrogen Energy, which ranks first in installed capacity, equipped 126 hydrogen fuel cell buses for Xiamen Jinlong in the first half of the year, with an installed capacity of 6552kW. Guangdong Exploration Automobile equipped Yunnan Wulong Automobile with 140 hydrogen fuel cell buses, ranking second with 6440kW installed capacity. Guangdong Guohong remodeled 114 hydrogen fuel cell buses for Foshan Flying Craft, with an installed capacity of 5308kW, ranking third.

In fact, among the 13 enterprises, only Weichai Power and hydrogen Blue era are supporting the two car companies, while the other hydrogen fuel cell system enterprises are all supporting customers, and the installed capacity completely depends on the needs of downstream car companies. For example, Suzhou CRRC hydrogen Power, Guangzhou Xiongtao hydrogen Heng Technology, Guangdong Guohong hydrogen Energy, Anhui Yuanjun hydrogen Energy are all equipped with only one hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in the first half of the year, and the installed capacity is on the low side.

Combined with the output of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles mentioned above, both hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell systems are still in their infancy in our country. the permeability of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in new energy vehicles is still on the low side, and its industrialization process obviously lags behind that of pure electric vehicles.

In addition, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and battery manufacturers also have obvious regional characteristics. From the point of view of Foshan, Zhangjiakou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan and Jiashan, which are highly promoted by hydrogen fuel cell buses, corresponding superior battery production enterprises have also been cultivated. For example, Foshan, Zhangjiakou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Jiashan and other bus markets are supported by Shanghai Remodeling, Yihuatong, SAIC (Jethydrogen Technology), Dongfang Electric, Xiongtao shares, Edelman hydrogen Energy and other enterprises. its localization advantage is obvious, and the competition of the market pattern is not yet fully market-oriented.

With the introduction of the subsidy policy this year, we will choose cities or regions with foundation, enthusiasm, and characteristics to focus on development. It is believed that it will have a more far-reaching impact on the development of enterprises that currently distribute hydrogen fuel cells, and which areas can be selected. It will also affect the "prospects" of local enterprises. At present, Shandong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hubei, Hebei and other provinces and cities across the country have issued or will soon issue guidance documents for the development planning of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry, hoping to pass policy support. I believe that this competition will also be very fierce.
