China copper inventory grew for the third straight week

Copper inventories in three major consumption areas in China accelerated their increases this week, as high copper prices deterred downstream purchases and reduced shipments from warehouses.

SHANGHAI, Jul 17 (SMM) – Copper inventories in three major consumption areas in China accelerated their increases this week, as high copper prices deterred downstream purchases and reduced shipments from warehouses. 


SMM data showed that inventories of copper cathode across Shanghai, Guangdong and Jiangsu, including those in SHFE-approved warehouses, surged 39,600 mt from July 10 to 240,200 mt as of Friday July 17. That marked the third consecutive week of increase, following after a build of 1,400 mt in the previous week


Inventories in Shanghai expanded 20,500 mt week on week to 177,000 mt as of July 17. Stocks in Jiangsu and Guangdong, meanwhile, grew 9,700 mt and 9,400 mt, respectively, from a week ago to 35,700 mt and 27,500 mt.

Inner Mongolia Approves 500 kV Project, Boosting Ordos City's Power Grid in 14th Five-Year Plan
Recently, the 500 kV transmission and transformation project of Jiri (Kusha II) was officially approved by the Energy Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, marking a good start for the power grid construction of Ordos City in the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The project is located in the territory of Hangjin Banner, with a total investment of 1.52554 billion yuan. It is a key hub project to ensure the output and consumption of new energy power in the northwestern region of Hangjin Banner. The project plans to build one 500 kV substation and about 194 km of 500 k V lines, which will pass through Hangjin Banner and Dalad Banner.
