South Africa: iron ore production rose 17.7% month-on-month in May

SMM7: according to preliminary data released by the South African Bureau of Statistics, in May this year, South Africa's iron ore mining production index increased by 17.7% month-on-month, and South Africa's nickel production increased by 486% month-on-month.

South Africa's iron ore production fell 66.3 per cent in May compared with the same period last year, and the country's nickel production was 25.7 per cent lower than in the same month in 2019.

In addition, the country's iron ore sales rose 10.3% in May from the previous month to 5.74 billion South African rand (US $343.67 million) after seasonally adjusted current prices.
