Steelmakers in Tangshan face stricter inspections on output cut

Steel mills in China’s top steelmaking hub Tangshan are subject to more stringent investigations on cutbacks as inspectors from the local government have stationed at steel plants to ensure the implantation of anti-smog measures, with the air quality remain poor as of June 11.

SHANGHAI, Jun 12 (SMM) – Steel mills in China’s top steelmaking hub Tangshan are subject to more stringent investigations on cutbacks as inspectors from the local government have stationed at steel plants to ensure the implantation of anti-smog measures, with the air quality remain poor as of June 11. 


Meanwhile, Tangshan steel mills in different districts are required to shutter capacity in turn during different time periods from June 11-12, as additional efforts to reduce pollution on top of the tightened environmental controls on June 6-13


SMM learned that Tangshan Iron & Steel’s northern factory district as well as steelmakers of Tangyin, Yanshan, Jiujiang, Rongxin, Xinda and Songting should suspend operations of their sintering machines between 21:00 CST on June 11 and 1:00 CST June 12. 


Ruifeng Iron & Steel, Jingan, Donghua and Kaiheng were ordered to completely halt production from 0:00 to 4:00 CST on June 12. 


Tangshan Iron & Steel’s southern factory district, Tanggang Stainless Steel, as well as steel mills of Guoyi, Chunxing, Donghai, Donghai Special Steel and Jinma closed their sintering machines from 4:00 to 9:00 CST on June 12.
